Welcome

Hello and welcome! My name is Maricruz and over the past year I have been taking charge of my financial future. I came to a realization that although I graduated college with an accounting degree, I did not know how to make my money work for me. Why? Because I grew up in an immigrant community with lack of resources and information for financial development.

Growing up, I did not have any personal finance mentors in addition to my parents, who were first generation immigrants and had to focus on saving in order to meet our family’s daily needs. Although they taught me everything I know about hard work and discipline; they could not teach me about what they did not know themselves.

In this blog, I will share the things I have learned and continue to learn about building wealth in order to help immigrants in a similar position as my parents and myself improve their financial knowledge and facilitate opportunities for growth.

ABOUT

The mission of this blog is to empower the immigrant community by providing information that will strengthen their financial knowledge. This blog will focus on facilitating financial stability and growth for the immigrant community, specifically first generation immigrants, their children and first generation professionals.

Improving our financial literacy will lead us to use money as a tool that will help us not only to improve our lives but also the lives of our children and future generations.

Latinos are the fastest growing demographic in the United States. According to the census the Hispanic population of the United States was 57.8 million or 17.8% of the total population in 2016 and it is expected to be 119 million or 28.6% in 2060! My hope is that we will not only grow in numbers but also in wealth.
